How, When, and Why We Collect Information
- Visiting the Website without putting any information in
You can view content on the Website without providing any personal information. When you enter the Website, it automatically collects technical information like your browser and operating system type and IP address to optimize your browsing experience on the Website and to track aggregate Website usage using tools like Google Analytics. If cookies are enabled on your computer, the Website also uses a “session” cookie to identify you while you are on the Website. This session cookie gets deleted after you finish using the Website and close your browser. Other cookies may be retained longer.
- Using third-party cookies and advertising data
A cookie is a file containing an identifier that is sent by a web server to a web browser and is stored by the browser. The identifier is then sent back to the server each time the browser requests a page from the server. Cookies may not contain any information that personally identifies a user, but personal data that we store about you may be linked to the information stored in and obtained from cookies.
Most browsers allow you to refuse to accept cookies and to delete cookies. The methods for doing so vary from browser to browser, and from version to version. You can however obtain up-to-date information about blocking and deleting cookies via the support section of your preferred browser. Blocking all cookies will have a negative impact upon the usability of many websites.
- Email mailing list
You can provide us with your contact information if you want just to join our email mailing list. By providing this information, you are giving consent to be contacted by Magnify. We may contact you to provide you with informational updates that may be of interest to you.
- Activities requiring your information
Certain activities on the Website require you to enter some information about you. If you decide to provide your tax status or zip code or email address, we use a persistent cookie that stores a marker to make it easier for you to login when you come back to the Website, but none of your personal information is stored in that cookie. You may also be asked to provide other information to participate in other activities through the Website.
What We Do With Your Information
5. Usage information
The Website may record information about your visits, like when you use the site, the areas of the site you click on and/or participate in, the tags you search for, and whether or not you subscribe to the RSS feed. If we enable the Website to create personal accounts that users can register for and log in to, then if you register and log in, we may associate the information about your visits with the account and track that information in a cookie that would not be automatically deleted when you close your browser. We may use pixel tags and/or trackable links in HTML-based emails sent to our users to track which emails are opened and/or clicked on by recipients.
We do not knowingly collect any information from children under the age of 13.
- Use of your personal information
Magnify collects personal information on the Website to help us serve the people who visit it. We may share the personal information that we collect with vendors who perform services on our behalf; however, we will not sell or share or give people’s personal information to any third party trying to sell anything or to use for any other commercial purpose.
We will use your contact information to communicate with you about Magnify activities and offerings unless you opt-out from receiving such messages. We will also use your contact information for administrative purposes, such as notifying you of major Website changes, sending messages related to actions you have taken on the site or for customer service purposes. Although we hope you’ll find these communications informative and useful, if you don’t, you can always unsubscribe by following the simple instructions included in each email.
When you send email or other communications to us, we may retain those communications in order to process your inquiries, respond to your requests, and improve our services.
We use both your personally identifying information and certain non-personally identifying information (such as anonymous usage data, IP addresses, browser type, etc.) to improve the quality of your user experience and the design of the Website and to create new features, functionality, and services by storing, tracking, and analyzing user behavior, preferences, trends, and actions.
We may be required to disclose user information pursuant to lawful requests, such as subpoenas or court orders, or in compliance with applicable laws. Additionally, we may share account or other information when we believe it is necessary to comply with the law, to protect our interests or property, to prevent fraud or other illegal activity perpetrated through the Website or using Magnify.
- Information security and data integrity
Magnify takes security measures to protect against unauthorized access to or unauthorized alteration, disclosure, or destruction of data. These include internal reviews of our data collection, storage, and processing practices and security measures, as well as physical security measures to guard against unauthorized access to systems where we store personal data.
